Item #1003: Apple Macintosh
512K

The Apple Macintosh, introduced in 1984, caused quite a stir due to it's
graphical user
interface, now commonly referred to as the GUI. The mouse, now a common
component
of any computer system, was then unheard of. Apple had in fact "borrowed"
this technology
from Xerox. Xerox had developed the GUI and mouse combination years
before, however
Xerox executives felt that such a "user interface" had no place in the business
enviroment and
the entire project was placed on the back burner.... until Steve Jobs
came to town!
